Mass spectrometry imaging
MALDI mass spectrometry imaging provides information on lipid, peptide and protein distributions in complex tissues. Laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS), established by our colleagues at ZEA-3, similarly determines metal location and abundance. In collaboration with partners from the Institute of Neuroscience and Medicine (INM-1), the C&O Vogt Institute of Brain Research at the HHU Düsseldorf and the Institute for Molecular Pathobiochemistry at RWTH Aachen we aim to establish a workflow for multi-modal imaging of metals, lipids and proteins in the brain and liver. Ultimately we aim to identify and track their changes in human disease.
